NARS 413 BLKR

NARS
I love when makeup companies create lines with NYC themes. I only lived in the city for 6 months, but it only took me one day to fall in love with it, and now I tend to obsess over everything that has to do with it!

NARS has a flagship boutique in the hip West Village at 413 Bleecker St. This location has served as an inspiration to their line, 413 BLKR collection. The latest additions to this line has arrived just in time for fall, which seems to have come a little early this year with all of this cold weather we've been having in the midwest! A deep rose brown lipstick and a midnight blue nail polish. Perfect hues for your fall sweaters and jackets.

"Founder and Creative Director Fancois Nars drew inspiration from the fast-paced city of Manhattan when this line-up and these new shades fit in seamlessly."

I love wearing darker colors in the fall. Especially deep blues for University of Michigan games!

You can find this collection on www.narscosmetics.com.

Blogher '13 in Chicago, Gone Too Soon!

I am just now coming down from this past weekend’s Blogher 2013 high. I had such an amazing time! Blogher put on a great event with even better people. The sessions were good, but where I learned the most was from talking with and meeting new blogger friends.

This was my first blogging conference so I don’t have anything to compare it to. If you are new blogger starting out, this is a great conference to learn the basics of writing, getting the social media basics down and monetization. There are more advanced sessions for more experienced bloggers, but I think the main thing for the more experienced is networking with others and connecting with brands at the expo.

At any rate, it was a ton of fun and I made some great new friends. I can’t wait to find out where Blogher 2014 is going to be held!

Blogher '13 is Here!

Add caption
Tomorrow I leave for my first Blogher conference. It feels like Christmas Eve...I'm not going to be able to sleep! I'm really looking forward to driving into Chicago with Christine from 15MinuteBeauty.com....4.5 hours of non stop beauty talk!

Although I've never been to a Blogher conference, I've attended several conferences for my full time job. Here's what I've learned...
1 - Wear comfy shoes!
2 - Bring a jacket or sweater, conference rooms are always chilly
3 - Everyone takes notes on laptops now. So much easier than trying to catch everything writing
4 - Carry lots of business cards!
5 - Dress to impress! You're representing your company and brand, so put your best foot forward
6 - Carry a healthy snack in your bag. Sometimes conferences don't provide or snacks, or if they do, it's cookies and you'll go into a sugar high and then low...

I can't wait to put to use all that I'm going to learn from Blogher '13. Please comment below or tweet at me (@lipglossbreak) if you'll be at the conference. I'd love to say HELLO!

Butter London Colour Clash

Loving Butter London's Autumn/Winter 2013 line, Colour Clash. Lots of fun, bright colors. Here's a swatch of Pimms, an opaque sunflower cremey yellow. This is going to look great during college football season...go Maize & Blue (University of Michigan alum here!).

On a separate note, I had a blast testing out my new lightbox when taking these pictures! Thanks and props to my brother in law for making it for me!

Some of you may have seen or heard about Talia Joy Castellano, a star in the beauty community. Talia was a beautiful thirteen year old girl who was battling two horrible forms of cancer, neuroblastoma and preleukemia. She was also a very talented makeup artist, with YouTube channel with almost 1M subscribers. She has also appeared on Ellen DeGeneres, where she was made an honorary Cover Girl!

Talia passed away this week but she will always be remembered as the smiling, beautiful girl that shared her love for makeup with the world.  Her last instagram post was of a teal mani, so in her memory, beauty bloggers are getting together to share mint manicures for Talia. • IT Cosmetics Your Most Beautiful You on QVC

Take a break from the sun on Saturday and tune into QVC and QVC.com! IT Cosmetics will be available today at a special value price! Their new collection, Your Most Beautiful You, is amazing!

IT Cosmetics Your Most Beautiful You 6-pc Collection includes:
    ·         Supersize Bye Bye Under Eye®
    ·         Heavenly Luxe™ Dual Airbrush Foundation/Concealer Brush
    ·         Hello Light™ Anti-Aging Crème Luminizer
    ·         Heavenly Luxe™ Pointed Precision Complexion Brush
    ·         YBBB™ Your Brows But Better™ Brow Power Skinny Pencil
    ·         Vitality Lip Blush™ Hydrating Gloss Stain

    it cosmetics luminizer
I've become a huge fan of this line over the last 6 months. Normally my skin is really sensitive to new facial products, but I don't have a problem with IT Cosmetics. For example, normally I would never try out a creme face product, but I took a chance on Hello Light Anti-Aging Creme Luminizer and really like how it blends with my skin. It doesn't look cakey and highlights nicely. The Dual Airbrush foundation brush helps to blend it in perfectly.
This kit also comes with a Supersize Bye Bye Under Eye. This concealer is super thick and a little goes a long way, so I'm thinking this tube may last me forever! I like to use it under my eyes to cover up my dark circles. It also blends nicely. This kit comes with a brush but I actually like to use my fingers to blend it under my eyes. This can also be used as a foundation but I haven't tried it yet.

The Vitality Lip Blush Hydrating Gloss Stain is a one of a kind gloss. I've never seen a lip stain stay on so long. This gloss goes on super shiny with a hint of pink. When the gloss fades, it leaves behind a rosy stain that lasts throughout multiple mugs of coffee and breakfast.

What's in my Beach Bag? Sun Bum SPF 30!

I definitely consider myself a 'Sun Bum' in the Michigan Spring/Summer time. My coworker always teases me because whenever the sun is out I can always be found working on our office deck. But I'm also very cautious to make sure I'm fully protected by sunscreen when outside.

Just the name of this sun protection line had me hooked. I received a sample of Sun Bum SPF 30 Continuous Spray and the lip balms to try out. I tried them out this past weekend while out on the lake and they kept both me and husband burn free! They are a new essential for my weekend beach bag.

The Continuous Spray sunscreen provided great coverage and made for easy application. I could even get my back covered without help! Sun Bum SPF 30 is water proof and sweat proof, paraben free, oil free and hypoallergenic. To top it off, it smells like the beach, coconut and sand. Retails for $15.99 and can be purchased online and at select retailers.

The lip balms are great too. Normally I'm not a fan of wax based lip balms, but this one goes on smooth and doesn't dry out lips or have a thick waxy feeling to it. It's super moisturizing! All of their fun flavors (my favorite so far is Banana) contain cocoa butter, and are PABA free. Other tasty flavors include Mango, Key Lime, Coconut, Pint Guava and Pomegranate. Sun Bum lip balms are $3.99 a piece and can be purchased online. These are steal for how moisturizing and tasty they are, with the added benefit of SPF.

Do you wear sunscreen? I hope everyone comments 'yes' below! Take my advice and wear your sunscreen...you'll thank me later!

    Clean Eating Blueberry-Raspberry Jam

I've been on a huge fruit kick lately. I realized how cheap Costco is for buying fruit and I've been stocking up. I get 3x the amount of strawberries and blueberries at Costco for the same price of what I pay for a small amount at my local grocery store. Costco is the way to go! What we don't eat in a weekend I freeze for smoothies or parfaits for a later time.

I normally just buy strawberries and blueberries but this past Costco visit the raspberries were calling my name. They looked so perfect!

I've been wanting to make my own jam for awhile now. I don't buy it from the store because it contains so much sugar, and the sugar free jam, to me, tastes awful. I found recipes from two of my favorite food blogs, Oh She Glows & PaleOMG and used them both to make Blueberry-Raspberry Clean Eating Jam. Here's what I used:

    2 cups of fresh raspberries
    1 cup of frozen blueberries
1/2 cup of all natural honey
    2 tbsp chia seeds
2 tbsp lemon juice (or a juice from one lemon)

    1. Add blueberries to a small sauce pan over medium heat. As they defrost they will start 'popping' open, and juices will start to come out.
    2. Add raspberries, honey, and lemon juice
    3. Continue to stir and mixture should start to get thicker
    4. Add in chia seeds
    5. Stir until all fruit is broken apart. I kept mine over medium heat for about 25 minutes, and then 10 minutes over low
    6. I let it cool and then put it in my one of my grandmother's mason jars :)

I used this jam on my toasted Ezekiel cinnamon raisin English muffins for breakfast on Saturday morning and it was delicious!

L'Occitane Radiance & Color Care Mask

I'm always on the hunt for a new hair conditioner. My hair has become so dry over the years. From highlights to sunlight, I'm not the nicest to my hair, so I like to invest in and try out new conditioners and hair treatments.

I received a sample of L'Occitane's Radiance & Color Care collection mask and love it! It's so creamy and rich and I love the way it soaks into my hair when I apply it in the shower. You're only suppose to use it once a week but I use it about two times a week and have loved the results. I apply this in the shower after shampooing and leave it on for as long as I can (I use a quarter size amount each use). It's the last thing I rinse before getting out of the shower.

My hair is visibly softer and smoother when I use this mask. Even after blow drying and flat ironing my hair it still looks soft. My mom even asked 'what have you done differently with your hair?'! The mask has a light scent to it, with a hint of rose.
Have you tried any of L'Occitane's hair care line yet? If so, what did you think?

Sponsored Post: Secret Outlast Clear Gel

True Story: I’m on my way to a client visit and I have my new black dress on. I left my hotel feeling good about my outfit, but once I got into the sunlight, I noticed deodorant white marks. No!!! Unfortunately, this is not a one time occurrence. Even when I put on deodorant after I have my dress on, I still sometimes get white marks on the fabric under my arms. So frustrating!

Within the last 7 days I’ve traveled for both work and pleasure between 3 different states. I went from 60 degree weather in Michigan to 90 degree weather in Florida. I used Secret Outlast Clear Gel all week to help keep me cool while schlepping my luggage and work tote around airports and traveling between climates. And because this deodorant is clear, I had no worries about it showing up on my clothing.

Secret Outlast definitely passed the 'no white mark' test! I received a sample in a travel approved size (1.7 oz) so I was able to pack it in my carry on (I normally don't check a bag when traveling for work). I not only loved that I didn't have to worry about white marks, but the scent of this deodorant is awesome, and provides you with 48 hours of odor and wetness protection. It's a super clean smell that lasted throughout a full day. Even in the heat of Florida I never felt self conscious about sweating too much because I knew Secret Outlast had me protected.

With Secret Outlast, you can stop doing the DEO dance (I use to do this all the time!) and you never have to worry about a bad date again (this video had me laughing out loud for awhile!).

Do you have any embarrassing deodorant white mark stories? If so, please share them below!

  • Kettlebell Love

Tomorrow is a big day. I'm taking a full day kettlebell certification class through the International Kettlebell & Fitness Federation (IKFF). It only took 28 years to find a sport I am passionate about. These iron bells have pushed me past what I thought was my limit and have made me a mentally and physically stronger woman!

Here are my essentials for a kick butt kettlebell workout:
     - A kettlebell! Start off light if you're new. I originally started with an 18lb bell, then 2 years later competed with a 12kg (26lbs) bell, and now I'm competing with a 16kg (35lb) bell. Took me 3 years to work up to the 16kg.
     - My Lululemon headband does a great job keeping my hair off of my face, especially during kettlebell swings.
     - Ellie.com is not only quality and functional workout gear, but also super cute. I just ordered the shorts below. And every time I wear my Ellie Peek a Boo top people go crazy over it!
     - Wristbands provide cushion for your wrists. Helps when you clean and jerk the bell!
     - I love my Under Armour shoes for lifting.

Once I have my certification I will be posting more kettlebell workouts here. Stay tuned and please let me know if you've ever used kettlebells before!

Sponsored Post - Revlon PhotoReady BB Cream & Nail Polish review

In order to get at least 8 hours of sleep at night AND make it to work on time, I try to cut down on my ‘getting ready’ time each morning by streamlining my beauty routine. I keep all of my daily makeup items on the counter or towards the front of my vanity drawer, and I keep my makeup basic: moisturizer, eyeliner/mascara, under eye cover up & blush/bronzer. Of course I use a lipgloss, but that’s applied as I’m walking out the door.

I recently tried Revlon PhotoReady BB Cream Skin Perfector SPF 30 and it is now part of my streamlined routine. Wondering what ‘BB’ stand for? I was! It stands for Beauty Balm. It’s a moisturizer, foundation and cover up all in one! It’s not like a heavy, cakey foundation, but covers more than a tinted moisturizer. Revlon’s BB Cream is light but contains heavy duty SPF and still covers blemishes.

As part of my new streamlined routine, I have started to use Revlon’s PhotoReady BB Cream over my facial moisturizer each morning. It makes my skin look more even toned and helps my blush and bronzer stay on longer. You also can’t beat the added layer of SPF it provides. I have dry and extremely sensitive skin, and I think because this cream is so hydrating, I haven't had any reactions to it. Revlon's PhotoReady BB Cream comes in Light, Light/Medium and Medium shades.

Another addition to my beauty regimen is having a fun summer color painted on my nails. I tried out Revlon nail polish in Eclectic and I'm obsessed. It's a beautiful sea green that reminds me of one of my favorite necklaces. It's pretty light so I had to use 3 coats to get full, solid coverage. I have it on my toes, too, and have been getting a ton of compliments on it!

Inglot AMC Lipgloss and Nail Polish review

I made my first Inglot purchase this past weekend. The husband and I got rained out from the pool in Fort Lauderdale, so we took a short trip to Aventura Mall. The Inglot store caught my eye and I had to stop in.

I learned from the sales rep that Inglot, a Polish cosmetics company, has been around for 25 years, but only in the US for the last 5 years. There are only 6 store fronts in the US, and lucky me, stumbled upon of them! In case your wondering (like I was), it’s pronounced ‘in-glot,’ just how it looks.

The products and store layout reminds me a lot of MAC Cosmetics. There’s definitely no shortage of bright, fierce colors. Inglot allows you to build your own palettes, which is really cool. I was immediately drawn to the lip glosses, and went ga-ga over the AMC glosses.
I tried a few on in store and decided on shade 542. This picture does not do this gloss justice. This gloss looks great by itself, but when layered over a lipstick, more of the pearlescent colors come out, changing when viewed from different directions. Layering it over a lipstick also helps it to stay on longer.
Near the cashier was a table full of marked down items and of course, I had to get this polish that caught my eye. I’m always looking for more neutral colors that will go with several different outfits and is work appropriate. This creamy beige matte is perfect for daily wear and will pretty much compliment any color outfit I wear. It’s suppose to be matte but I applied a glossy top coat to help it last longer.
So my first impression of Inglot is a good one. I have a new favorite gloss and a new every day nail color. I’m sold! Looking forward to trying out more of their glosses and building an eye color palette that can be used for both day and night looks!

Have you tried Inglot yet? If so, what are your favorite items?
