Lancôme & Demi Moore's Academy Awards Look

Demi Moore was a complete vision at the Academy Awards, from her dusty rose Versace gown to her easy updo to her softly dramatic makeup. Celebrity makeup artist Jo Strettell did the beauty honors for the always-stunning Demi.

For Demi’s complexion, Jo mixed two Giorgio Armani foundations—Luminous Silk Foundation and Lasting Silk UV SPF 34 Compact Foundation—and swept YSL Touche Éclat under the eyes and around the nose. Lancôme’s Blush Subtil in Rose Fresque, just on the apples of the cheeks, brightened her complexion. Jo created the soft, smoky eye with Lancôme Color Design Eye in Ciel du Soir on the lid and Color Design Eye in Honeymoon as a highlight from right above the lid to the brow bone and on the inner corner of the eyes. Lancôme’s Le Crayon Khôl in Gris Noir lined the eyes and Jo softened the look by smudging the line. The lashes were curled with a Shu Uemura lash curler, followed by several coats of Lancôme Hypnôse Drama in Excessive Black on the top lashes and Ôscillation Mascara in Black to the lower lashes. For Demi’s lips, the combination of Lancôme’s L'Absolu Rouge in Rich Cashmere and Juicy Tubes in Spring Fling created a pretty, nude lip that had just enough pop.

Curel Skin Advisor

Curel has launched a new interactive, online tool, the Skin Advisor, that offers skin analysis and provides advice on common skincare issues.

Below are a few quotes from Dr. Westley who partnered with Curel to create this tool.

  • “I partnered with Curel to create the Skin Advisor, an interactive tool on curel.com designed to help users identify and address skincare concerns like dryness, itching, allergies and eczema, to name a few. 10-20% of children have eczema, and many continue to suffer in adulthood. One of the most common complaints I see in my office is dry skin, itchiness and skin prone to rashes. People don’t know what regimen is right for their skin and many times parents are also confused what they should be using for their children’s skin.”

  • “I worked closely with Curel to develop a series of questions that recreate the experience of visiting the dermatologist’s office. When users answer the questions provided, the Skin Advisor generates a customized analysis of their skin concerns as well as lifestyle tips and Curel product recommendations to treat those concerns. The advisor is very detailed, asking questions about skin type and very specific questions about symptoms people experience, just like I ask my own patients. The analysis generated is also very detailed and gives very useful tips and recommendations for people to start treating their skin. There is also a helpful allergen guide that people can navigate if they suspect they may be allergic to something they are coming into contact with. It actually can help target a specific ingredient that they can look for on product labels.”

  • “Once consumers complete the Skin Advisor questionnaire, they can read more about the various skin issues covered at curel.com. If users still have additional questions, they can submit those questions online and I will answer them personally and provide additional insight.”

  • “While serious skin conditions require a dermatologist’s attention, the Curel Skin Advisor offers an advanced skin analysis and provides valuable advice for people seeking relief from common skincare issues, putting the cure in Curel.”

Makeup from Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland comes out this Friday, and I have a feeling it will be every makeup artist's dream come true. Lancôme ambassador Anne Hathaway portrays the White Queen, a role she was perfect for given her porcelain complexion. Her gorgeous skin was the focal point of her look at the London premiere of the film last week (as you can see in the picture). Makeup artist Kate Lee did the honors and also focused on Anne’s radiant eyes and smile. The dress, in case you’re wondering, is by Vivienne Westwood.

If you want to let your readers know how to get Anne’s premiere look, here are the products we suggest:

EYES: Le Stylo Waterproof Eyeliner in Prune; Color Design Eye Shadow in Ciel du Soir; Hypnôse Drama Mascara in Excessive Black

SKIN: Photôgenic Lumessence foundation in Ivoire 2C; Blush Subtil in Sheer Amourose
LIPS: L'Absolu Rouge lipstick in Rendez-Vous

Add a set of false eyelashes, and you’re ready for your date with the Mad Hatter.

Priti NYC Nail Polish

Check out this fun new nail polish line, Priti NYC. I recently got to try a few of their nail polishes and polish removers. The picture below is me wearing St. Catherine's Lace. With the Priti base coat, two coats of color, and a fast dry top coat, this polish stayed on really well and was super glossy. It went on super smooth, which is a plus for my peeling nails, and made for a streak free, easy application.
Priti's complete non-toxic nail polish line has been designed and specifically named after beautiful flowers and plants that they resemble (so creative!). Priti Polishes have been formulated without Toluene, DBP and Formaldehyde and does not contain any petroleum ingredients.

The word Priti has many meanings in Sanskrit, such as out of satisfaction, with love, and pleasurable sensation. The Priti line has been designed and created with some of the world's most naturally organic resources.

The polishes are $12.50 each, but definitely worth it if you're into nail polish. I've never had nail polish go on so smooth. I would say splurge on at least one color for your toes this summer.
