RHINOPLASTY – It is amazing how a nose job can completely change a person’s face. Think of Ashlee Simpson, or further back Jennifer Grey, whose appearance changed drastically after her procedure. Heidi’s new nose is a big part of her total transformation and I would give it a thumbs up. It looks very nice and natural.
BREAST AUGMENTATION – The first priority in breast augmentation is to fill the breast tissue while providing maximal coverage of the implant. For that reason, every patient is different in terms of how much volume is needed to achieve an aesthetic breast, since the base width of the breast, the tissue stretch in the breast and the amount of native breast tissue must be considered. These factors determine the optimal size of an implant and the location.
“The bottom line,” Dr. Naidu says, “is that the implants Heidi has are far too big for her soft tissues. Her initial breast augmentation was very attractive and filled out her breasts adequately.”
The problem? Patients often do not understand the consequences of getting very large implants. According to Dr. Naidu, putting very large implants into Heidi, as was done, caused her tissues to stretch beyond a capacity that will sustain them in the long term. “They may look good to her now, but with time her skin will stretch out and those implants will drop, producing a saggy breast and creating additional issues that will require more surgery. She will most likely need a breast lift at some time in the future, requiring additional incisions on the breast,” says Dr. Naidu.
BROWLIFT – Several studies have evaluated the effect of the brow position on the aesthetic female face. According to Dr. Naidu, surgeons try to elevate the lateral brow to the extent that the arch of the brow is placed just lateral to the iris of the eye. This arch ideally should come just over the bony brow itself in women, while a straight, no-nonsense type of brow achieves a masculine look in men.
“Heidi Montag’s upper face looks very attractive now as a result of her altered brow position,” says Dr. Naidu. “It has certainly given her upper face a very feminine, sultry look. But overall, she received a lot of surgery in one sitting, especially considering her age. This is something which I actively discourage in my own patients.”
